Pierre Marie: “Fantasy is not reserved for an elite or people who have the means”

The draftsman and decorator born in 1982 evokes his childhood in Perreux-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) with a guitarist father and a teacher mother, his very young fascination for Four Seasons of Vivaldi, his love of the harpsichord, his obsession with Walt Disney cartoons, the visual shock of discovering the Parisian boutique of Comme des Garçons in 1997, his collaboration at 19 with Agnès B., his taste for world of storytelling to touch people’s unconscious, its affiliation with the decorative artists of the end of the 19th century^e century-beginning of XX^e century, his conception of style, his relationship to colors or objects and his dislike of garlic and onions.

He also discusses at length the emergence of post-war minimalist aesthetics in the West: “It’s crazy how radical this deconstruction of style was and then adopted in droves. I want to tap into this vision of modernity in which we have all been engulfed which advocates the manufacture of objects in very large series by seeking to maximize margins and reduce the cost of manufacture. It takes us all into a standardization of style. And an eradication of fantasy and personal taste. »

For four seasons, journalist and producer Géraldine Sarratia has questioned the construction and intricacies of a personality’s taste.
