Gingham, lots of gingham, colored piping applied almost everywhere, large shirt collars adorned with zigzag grosgrain, very conspicuous buttons… The style of La Veste is gently old-fashioned, colorful, daring, far from stylistic standards fashionable. The Spanish label created in 2019 by Blanca Miró, stylist and influencer, and María de la Orden, designer, assumes its position “of fashion outsider”. It’s a bit of all this that caught the eye of Sylvette Lepers, head of creative partnerships and image at La Redoute.
“The look and lifestyle of Blanca Miró and María de la Orden embody the new Iberian wave. I was seduced by their personality, their independence of spirit and the freedom they show when they play with fashion codes. I find that they have a knack for creating tasty mixtures of shapes and colors,” underlines the one who therefore proposed to them to create a capsule collection in collaboration with La Redoute.
Since 2010, Sylvette Lepers has been launching partnerships of this type with cutting-edge designers whose talent she has spotted: Anthony Vaccarello (2011), Simon Porte Jacquemus (2014) or even Christelle Kocher (2018), all of whom have signed looks for the French e-commerce company. With one rule “to offer designer style at affordable prices”. The two Spaniards have thus imagined three silhouettes faithful to their aesthetics: a short dress in terry cloth, a jacket and high-waisted pants set in striped cotton, and another look with a sailor blouse with a large boat neck combined with a miniskirt. The two designers have played with their signature details, emphasizing the pockets and the collars with colored stripes.
